Geneva Hosts sixth Edition BioData

2004-01-19

BioData, international symposium that brings together every year in Geneva over fifty biopharma companies and medtech investors and partners, will be held on 23 and 24 January 2007 at the Ramada Park Hotel. This annual meeting allows biotechnology companies representatives to present to potential investors while creating links that may provide new opportunities for development.

The 2010 edition will host over seventy specialized investors and nearly 250 "one to one" are programmed between these entrepreneurs and financial experts. And enrollment is almost similar to that of 2008, when the last edition. "This is proof of the interest of the manifestation" adds Hervé de Kergrohen Chairman of Biodata.

From its beginning BioData had intended to bring leaders in the field of life science and investment to speak on major trends in this dynamic and innovative industry. The 2007 edition will highlight the interventions and panel discussions on topics such as European initiatives to promote entrepreneurship, the next success stories of biotechnology in therapeutic areas still little known, new approaches to extract information in minor clinical trials, alternative funding models for biotechnology companies, the synergies between biotech and new technologies, and the role played by financial relations and communication in the increase in value of the companies .dropoff window

The conference will also cover topics such as the advantages and disadvantages of investments in the US or Europe, the values to monitor, as well as intellectual property. The importance of Rhône-Alpes and BioAlps regions will also be highlighted.

Some 400 participants, including financial analysts, venture capitalists and institutional investors specializing in life sciences, participated last year in BioData. The forum also hosted more than 55 company presentations and 45 speakers and speakers in plenary.

At the recent press presentation of the 2007 BioData, Hervé de Kergrohen, chairman of BioData, said: "BioData2007 has both the most advanced companies in the life science industry and start-ups representative of the activity of entrepreneurship in Europe. The fact is that more and more mature projects appeal to the Swiss stock market to refinance. These companies will be present at BioData2007. Many smaller companies are also present to show the dynamics of alpine cluster in biotech and medtech fields. These newly established companies will, hopefully, stock future success. do you even lift

Pierre-François Unger, State Councillor in charge of the economy and the Department of Health, said: "BioData is the expression of a responsible and realistic philosophy of entrepreneurship in a liberal environment and international .dropoff window When many key skills are available in an area with a dense and complementary fabric High Schools, hospitals, service providers, subcontractors, it is the region that attracts companies and not companies who empty the area of its competence! Let us be enterprising and continue the momentum. For all French-speaking cantons and the Rhône-Alpes region, it is vigorously and sustainably support the birth and growth of companies active in the field of life sciences. "

Jean-Jack Queyranne, President of the Rhône-Alpes region: "To actively participate in building a creative territory, with strong growth and attractive is the ambition of the Rhône-Alpes Region, Bio Data 2007 partner. "dropoff window

As for Philippe Sordet, president of BioAlps, he added that "the support of the BioAlps BioData Symposium for the sixth consecutive year confirms the major role occupied our region in the field of life sciences in Switzerland and Europe. The BioAlps region provides leadership to two national research centers ("Frontiers in Genetics" and "Molecular Oncology") and has an internationally recognized center for research in bioinformatics. On the industrial side, the BioAlps region is home to a dozen companies that are among the world leaders in biotech and medtech fields. In addition, the rise of more than 50 startups from the High Schools reveals the growing success of technology transfer policy. This success has also been confirmed in 2005 and 2006 by raising almost ? 200 million of funds by only seven companies in the region. Via our support BioData, our goal is to support these startups to help them thrive both in their research and their funding. "

Finally, Dominique Gillot, life sciences manager Europe, Middle East and Africa for Hewlett Packard, said: "HP has been a sponsor of BioData from the first edition and renews its support again this year. Research is a leading bio activity that requires the latest technologies in computing, synthesis and storage of data, varied, more and more important. Our research in our laboratories HPlabs in advanced fields such as nanotechnology, or high-speed networks allow us to offer innovative solutions that we are testing with our scientific partners in biotechnology, India, Malaysia, and Singapore, and course with the Institute Vital-IT in Ecublens, part of the SIB (Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics). BioData is an ideal forum to share these solutions with the leaders of Biothechs and investors, and find solutions that meet the needs and which will accompany the evolution of these companies and grow with them. do you even lift
